Asian Painted Frog
Kaloula pulchra
Group of one male and three females for sale.
The banded bull frog (Kaloula pulchra) is also known as the chubby frog (in the pet trade), Asian painted frog, rice frog, or bubble frog. These frogs belonging to the narrow-mouthed frog family have round bodies with mahogany brown backs and cream stomachs. The distinctive stripes down the side can range from copper-brown to salmon pink in colour. Males have darker throats than females. Frogs grow to 7–8 cm with females generally being larger than males.
These nocturnal, narrow mouthed frogs will consume medium quiet crickets, wax worms, mealworms, small earth worms and calci-worms. They require water about 5cm deep so that they can be covered completely with the water and soak at night.
They require deep moist jungle style substrate and a temperature of around 24°C that they will dig backwards into and burrow into the substrate.
Collection only from SW London.
